My Story

Since i was young, i had the experience of watching my Father toiling it out in the kitchen. Almost every night at about 5pm you would find my Father preparing food for dinner. From Chilli Crabs and Kong Bak Pao to Ayam Buah Keluak and Itek Tim. Every night would be a gastro eye-opener. My father was never trained professionally but to me he is one of the best chefs around. To me, a chef is rated not by the latest techniques you use or the freshest ingredients you put on the plate, it is merely and simply measured by the length and width of the smiles that you manage to put on the faces of the people that you feed. Because of my Father i have always had an interest in food and how it could make anybody happy. Because of my father, i also knew what good food should taste like.

Since my first dish of butter prawns (a failed attempt of course) when i was 5 i have never looked back. From an ad-hoc catering business to running a cafe it was not until i graduated from culinary school at At-Sunrice Globalchef Academy and won “The Best Taste” Award at the CityGas Singapore Chef Awards 2008 for The Singapore Food Festival 2008 that i realised how much i really wanted to cook professionally. With brief stints in some fine-dining restaurants and having the opportunity to have my own menu creations at The Tiffin Club i have now decided to be a Personal Chef.

Why? Cooking in the kitchen with the boys is fun and the adrenaline of rush hour is hard to beat. However, i’ve realised that cooking is a very intimate craft and going back to my roots and why i was interested in food in the first place i really just want to work with individuals personally to create an unforgettable menu for a special occasion or an everyday dinner and just feed people and make them happy through my food. =)
